Fire Science Bachelor’s Degree Programs
The study of Fire Science is just that – an educational component that learns to properly break down the nature of fire from a scientific perspective. Such an understanding aims to ask not only the “what” in terms of fire and emergency training and situations, but also the why and how, with the long-term intent being to be better prepared and even allow for prevention efforts to heighten. With an emphasis on safety and best practices in mind, the study of Fire Science further attempts to build on experience when creating future regulations and standards of fire protection.
Multiple Fire Science bachelor’s programs options are available in a variety of formats, but most all usually point to a Bachelor of Science degree upon completion. While a more prototypical start-to-finish format is available, comprehensively covering all bases of fire science curriculum from leadership to principles of emergency services. Available part-time online programs, however, may require that entering students already hold an associate’s degree or up to 60 hours of transferable credits – along with first and second level firefighter training. Major-oriented coursework includes the basics of fire behavior and combustion, hydraulic principles, safe building construction, fire investigation, occupational safety issues, disaster planning, and mitigating administrative challenges.
