Fire & Emergency Management Bachelor’s Degree Programs

The study of Fire and Emergency Management addresses recent demands by both the general public and government officials for higher levels of training and educational prowess for first response teams and those responding to catastrophic disasters, terrorist incidents, and other emergency situations. A Fire and Emergency Management educational program also teaches occupational and life safety awareness, as well as conveying the value of global awareness and ethical judgment in such situations.

The common Fire & Emergency Management bachelor’s program – undergraduate degree programs in this field have been relatively standardized in scope, content, and outcome for more than a decade – leads students to a Bachelor of Science degree. Designed in principal for those already serving as emergency services personnel, this degree allows graduates to gain valuable administrative and management expertise, along with venturing further into the areas of technology, human resources, and fiscal management. Coursework included spans strategy and tactics, community risk reduction, risk management, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and disaster response methodology. Some eligible graduates may also be on pace to fast track toward an advanced degree as well, including a Master of Public Administration, or Master of Science degrees in criminal justice, environmental policy, fire and emergency services, homeland security and emergency management or legal studies.
